Redrow Hosts Halloween Event to Help Huddersfield First-Time Buyers

Housebuilder Redrow is holding a free Halloween event for first-time buyers in Huddersfield on Saturday 31 October, aimed at taking the fear out of buying a first home.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm at Redrow’s Meadow Vale development on Bradford Road. Visitors will be able to speak to industry experts, ask questions and find out about the support available to help them buy their first home.

Advice for first-time buyers

Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Yorkshire, said: “The great thing about buying a new home is there will be no ghosts of homeowners past as everything is brand new and ready to put your own stamp on.

“We’re hosting this event to give first-time buyers the opportunity to speak to experts, ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the steps involved in purchasing their first property.

“We’re bringing together experts who can provide practical advice and answer any questions people may have to ensure they don’t get spooked by myths that can surround buying a home for the first time.”

First Homes scheme

The government’s First Homes scheme is available on selected properties at Meadow Vale, allowing eligible buyers with local links to buy a new home for at least 30% below market value. Subject to Kirklees Council’s criteria, the homes are open to first-time buyers who live, or have lived, in the area within the last three years, or who are members of the armed forces. Buyers must have a household income under £80,000, not own another property and need a mortgage for at least half of the purchase price. When the home is sold on, the discount passes to the next buyer.

Steve added: “For would-be homeowners, finding a home that ticks all the boxes within their budget can be a difficult task. We’re proud to support first-time buyers through the government’s First Homes scheme. It’s a great opportunity for local people to take that first step onto the property ladder.”

About Meadow Vale

Meadow Vale sits on the edge of an established residential area between Huddersfield and Brighouse, surrounded by open space and woodland. Once complete, it will have 222 two, three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s Arts and Crafts-inspired Heritage Collection. The private sale homes will be gas-free, with heating and hot water from air source heat pumps, and will include electric vehicle charging points.

Homes on the development start from £255,000. More information is available on the Redrow website.
